There are plenty of live casino games to play at online sites. However, while you will find numerous opportunities to play roulette, blackjack or poker, there aren’t so many for the game of craps.
This situation is about to change with the imminent launch of ‘Craps Live’ by the hugely successful Evolution Gaming which is set in a 1920’s speakeasy underground club. Those of you who love games involving dice will be delighted with this news. Transforming from a land based casino game to the all dealer experience in the comfort of your own home, this is one that will have many in the iGaming community rolling their way to wins.
The popular dice game has been seen in many a movie but not everyone is familiar with the ins and outs of this action packed live casino game. Our site will change that and prepare you for the launch of this new online game.
Craps Live is expected to launch exclusively to a small number of sites. BetVictor are set to launch the game onthe 29th October. The early exclusive will be followed by a roll-out to other operators early November.
As with many original casino games, there’s a bit of a discussion over when and where Craps originated. It’s claimed that Roman soldiers created the game, or was it an Arabic game? Then again, it might have been invented by Sir William of Tyre when he was in the Crusades in the 12th century. One advantage of the game was that hardly any equipment was required to play
That game wasn’t known as craps but Hazard and in the years that followed, it became a popular European dice game, particularly in England and France. The name ‘Craps’ is another legend and one version say it comes from the French word ‘crapaud.’
Fast forward to the early 19th century when the game crossed the Atlantic. Bernard Xavier Philippe de Marigny de Mandeville (perhaps his friends just called him Bernard) was a keen gambler and had discovered the game in London in 1805. He was quick to tell people about it when returning to New Orleans.
As the game began to grow, its rules went through several changes. Rather than the dice shooter choosing a main number between five and nine, it now became seven. That of course just happens to be the number that you will always get from the two opposite sides of a dice (6-1, 5-2, 4-3).
Craps continued to develop and grew in popularity. It did run into a few problems though due to the occasional use of unfair dice. Then came John H. Winn who is regarded as the father of the modern game. He was an American dice maker and his version of the game was the one that became played in the USA. He introduced some new rules too and the use of unfair dice became under control. The game kept on growing, especially on Mississippi river gambling boats and eventually in Las Vegas.
The clock is counting down to the release of Live Craps and anticipation of it being a huge success are high. When you play a game online, there are often some changes that you need to take note of. For example, in poker when you play online, the speed of the game can change and there’s no need to maintain that poker face.
Playing Craps online is different from trying to get wins in a casino. The job of the game developer is to do their best to replicate the game online. For example, thinking back to those movies that feature craps, you’d have noticed a lot of cheering and shouting goes on. To recreate that situation online, this online craps game has a cheer button that you can press to give you a real celebration
An important part of a casino game is the placing of your bets. With this game, Evolution Gaming haven’t made too many changes. If you have been playing Craps in casinos, then you will be familiar with how to place bets. Those of you who are new to the game will find that there is a great deal of information about how the game is played available and how bets can be made.
We see different versions of popular casino games online, that adds variety to your play. This new craps game hasn’t gone down that route. However, this could well be the start of the online craps revolution. In time, we are likely to see different versions come along to supplement the usual one people play, similar to lightening roulette. Evolution Gaming have had great success with their live casinos on online gambling sites. Being able to play craps online with live dealers is a great addition.
This new craps release has a great design and it’s a mechanical arm that has the job of throwing the dice rather than the dealer. They are still needed to reload that mechanical arm with the all-important dice.
When you see the game played in casinos, there’s all that shaking and kissing of the dice hoping that will bring the player good luck. That doesn’t really help a great deal, it’s a bit like being wished good luck. There’s not going to be any kissing or shaking of the dice when you play this game online. It’s just a question of pressing the roll button.
Playing this game in a casino, you’ll find it difficult to throw the dice in the same way each and every time. Evolution Gaming have taken that into account for this online version so there will be varying strengths and speeds.
The throw will also take place with the dice in different positions in relation to the numbers that are showing face up on the dice. All the details of this are given to the player to help them decide what bet to make. You can also expect there to be close-ups shown of the dice helping to build the excitement.
The My numbers feature, allows players to set their favourite numbers and bet on them at a click of a button. This makes it easier to keep up with the dealer and bet on the numbers you prefer.
Just like when playing blackjack in a casino, you can see how the players on the table are getting on. That can help you learn from other players or just have an inner smile when you’re winning, and others aren’t. With this new online game, that situation also exists. You will be able to see how all the other players on the table are faring and know just what they have bet on using the handy in game tools.
You will be able to play this game on your laptop or PC and mobile devices too. The latter is really handy because once you fall in love with this game, you’ll be keen to play it as much as possible. If you are going to play this on your mobile, make sure you have a screen that is clear and not too small. The last thing you want to do is make a mistake because you couldn’t read what is on the screen.
There’s not a great deal of equipment needed in order to play the game of craps. Unfortunately, the movie makers that include the game in their films assume that everyone knows exactly how the game works but that’s not the case. Time then to explain the rules of live craps in readiness for the launch of the Evolution Gaming Craps Live Game.
Players place bets on the result of the roll of two dice, or several rolls. They place bets (more about those on their way) against the casino, rather than against other players on the table. The aim is to correctly predict the outcome of the dice throw. If successful, you will receive a pay-out, all depending on the bet that you have made.
Every game has terminology that needs to be learned or you’ll wonder just what is going on. The same applies to the actual table that the game is played on, there’s lots of numbers visible so you need to understand what they mean. It’s like when you play on a roulette table, there’s a lot more to the game than just trying to work out what number will be the winner.
There are three main rules that you need to consider when playing craps. Stand by for some of that terminology that has been mentioned. The first one you need to consider relates to the betting round that takes place before the throw of the dice. The come out roll is all about the first roll of the dice or the first that takes place after the previous betting round has ended.
The thrower of the dice is known as the shooter. Once the throw has taken place and the result of that is known, there are three outcomes that will determine whether you are a winner or a loser.
The first of these is a ‘natural.’ This relates to the total of the two dice thrown being either a 7 or an 11. It’s good news if this is the result of the throw as you don’t just win but also get the opportunity to have another roll of the dice.
The second possible outcome is ‘craps’ and it’s not such good news. This occurs when you roll a 2, 3 or 12. You lose but do get the opportunity to roll the dice again.
Finally, we have ‘Point’, and this covers the remaining possible results, namely 4,5,6,8,9 or 10. When you are playing the online version of the game, the word ‘On’ will appear. Time to roll the dice again and the desire in your heart will be to get the same outcome that you’ve just had. Whatever you do, don’t roll a 7. Doing so will mean you’ll ‘seven-out’ meaning you’ve lost the round.
Understanding those three possible outcomes is obviously important when playing this game, whether in a casino or online but there’s a lot more to learn. This is particularly the case when you are working out what bets to make.
A look at the craps table might have you initially wondering what is going on. Just like a roulette table, there are plenty of betting options laid down. Understanding what all of these mean is going to really help you when playing craps.
Firstly, we need to take a look at the Pass and Don’t Pass Bets that can be made. This has nothing to do with the show ‘Mastermind,’ though you would love playing this game online in a fancy leather chair.
So, what does this all mean? On the table you will find two areas that are marked ‘Pass Line’ and ‘Don’t Pass.’ You are able to bet on both of these options. If you decide to opt for the Pass Line, this means your wish is that the shooter rolls either a natural or winning before seven-ing out. When it comes to the Don’t Pass bet, you will be hoping that the shooter loses on their throw. Both of these bets can only be made before the point takes place. Once that situation has been reached, you can make more bets.
What if a 12 is the result of a roll? This means that it is a push (not a win, not a loss) and the stake that you have made will be returned to you.
Next up we have the Come and Don’t Come bets. These can be made once the point has been determined. The Come bet will be a winning one if a natural is rolled but it’ll be a losing one if craps are the result of the latest roll.
What is the outcome of the roll is a point? The answer to that question is that we have a Come-Bet Point. Time to focus on the next roll of the dice as this determines what will happen. If a come-bet point is achieved again before there’s a 7, you win the round. If that isn’t what occurs, then you lose.
With the Don’t Come bet, you will be hoping that the shooter rolls either a 2 or a 3 as that makes you a winner. If a 7 or 11 is rolled, then unfortunately your bet is a losing one. Again, the push outcome is in play here and that will again be a push and your stake returned.
The bets examined so far can involve more than one roll of the dice. There are some bets though that can be made on a single roll, generally called Proposition Bets. Experienced players tend not to make these too often even though they can produce good wins. Why? Well, the house edge is higher with these bets and can get as high as 16%, meaning wins for the player are a lot less likely. That’s the case with a Hard Ways bet where you are looking for the same number to come up on each dice (excluding two sixes) and the chances of that happening are quite low.
When you look at the craps table, you will also see the offering of Field Bets. This is a one dice roll proposition bet option and to win you need to see a 2,3,4,9,10, 11 or 12 rolled. Anything else will see your Field Bet being a losing one. A 2 pays double and a 12 triple, so you will be keen to see that be the result of the roll.
Another form of proposition bet is title Yo-leven. You might have guessed already that to get a win here you want an 11 to be thrown and if successful, you can get a win of around 15:1.
The betting options continue to keep on coming. Next, we have the Place Bets which can be made once you know a point has been achieved. The table has several numbers that you can bet on, namely 4,5, Six, 8, Nine and 10. If any of these numbers is rolled before a 7 comes along, you win.
One bet that does not feature in Evolutions Live Craps version, is the Big 6 bets and Big 8 bets. Not the hardest bet to understand, you just need a 6 or an 8 to be rolled before a 7.
You can see therefore, that there are many betting options in this game. Every roll of the dice gives players the chance to get wins, losses or their stake returned. Head over the our strategy page to understand the best way to play.
